Environmental Hygienic Survey of ROKAF Radar Sites (Report II)

Abstract
Authers conducted a study of environmental hygienic survey on 5 radar sites of ROKAF during a period from May 20 1966 to June 21, as a part of improvement project of environmental hygiene in Radar sites.
The following results and suggestion were made.
1. Radar sites, usually being situated at high land or the remote place, have several inconvenient characteristic for the daily lives and duties of the personnel¡¯s
2. As to the environmental conditions, room temperature, humidity, quantities of COs, CO and SO, gas 3s, intensity of illumination, number of airborne microbes, required amount of ventilation, required time of natural ventilation and sanitary, investigation radar scope air filter etc. of the radar operation room barracks (bed room) were measured.
3. Temperature in radar room was higher than external atmosphere by 1-6¡ÆC, and humidity was 55-83%. And so the discomfort index was high, showing 80.9 in K-19 site.
4. Ventilating system of radar room was not satisfactory, and it needed improvements which were based under the sanitary engineering planning¡¯s. In the case of CO, concentration of K-53 reached maximal permissible does and required hourly ventilation was 4-5 times.
